CHRONIC PAIN & INJURY RELIEF

Motor Point Acupuncture/ Dry Needling

For sports and performance injuries and chronic pain, this orthopedic approach to acupuncture focuses on skeletal, muscular, and connective tissue. The approach directly targets knots in the muscles and tissues resulting from injury or overuse, utilizing “trigger-point” release techniques and electric stimulation to restore range of motion and relieve pain. Andrew’s technique comes from decades of training and blends Dr Tan “magic points” and gentle Japanese methods of acupuncture with this modern approach, for a safe and less painful treatment, compared to the recent western method known as “dry needling.” Motor point acupuncture offers a lasting result, because it releases both physical and emotional blocks, for complete healing.

Magic Points

Under the Master Tan style of acupuncture, treatment sites are fondly termed “magic points” because the small number of sites treated offer instant, often lasting, results. The method involves distal points located opposite the affected area; for example, points on the feet treat the head, or vice versa. The idea is to push energy into areas of deficiency or pull excess inflammation from an area of pain. These safe ingenious techniques, used for low back pain, sciatica, and other inflammatory conditions, never treat into the site of pain or injury. It complements the more direct Motor-point approach (described above) by relaxing the areas of pain before they are directly treated. Relief is often instant, but maintenance treatments are necessary to interrupt habitual, chronic pain. Clients love the simplicity and efficacy of this method.

PINPOINT DIAGNOSIS FOR FAST RESULTS

Japanese Acupuncture (KMS)

Kiiko Matsumoto is considered a living master of Oriental medicine, with over three decades in practice. Her style of acupuncture, known as KMS, is a system of palpation for instant feedback during treatment and therefore greater efficacy. Tightness and areas of strength and weakness are clues to answer why someone is not healing or improving. The abdomen, as the center for digestion and home of vital organs, is used to diagnose through palpation, to determine best treatment strategies. The needle techniques in KMS are shallow and virtually painless, gentle yet highly effective often with off-the-table results. Even difficult cases respond well to KMS. Andrew Nowosad continues to study directly with Kiiko Matsumoto as this living system of acupuncture evolves.

EMOTIONAL & SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION

ESOTERIC ACUPUNCTURE

Esoteric acupuncture is a system developed by Dr. Mikio Sankey, that applies ancient wisdom using the Chakras, Kabalistic sacred geometry, and ancient Chinese philosophies to the traditional acupuncture points and meridians. The focus is on balancing the body’s subtle frequencies, to prevent disease from entering. By addressing the energy field beyond the physical body and elevating consciousness, clients often reach a new perspective on their physical and emotional state. The patterns allow us to expand beyond the physical to the spiritual heart level, to feel a sense of oneness and alignment, creating a forcefield of love to heal oneself. Andrew finds that this method goes beyond disease, reaching deeper spiritual levels that can help his clients discover their higher purpose or puzzle piece in life.

RELEASE —Cupping

In Chinese medicine, cupping has been used for thousands of years to increase circulation and detoxify the body. Some proven effects of cupping include increased blood supply, better metabolism and lymph flow, and aiding detoxification. Glass cups are heated and applied upside down to the skin along the meridians of the body, usually on the back, creating suction as a way of stimulating the flow of energy. Muscles relax and connective tissue is strengthened by this treatment.

FLOW —Moxa & Gua-Sha

Moxibustion is a warming treatment in Eastern medicine. An herb is burned above the skin to warm and stimulate a specific point along a meridian of the body to release the affected area and promote healing.

Gua-sha is a traditional technique of Chinese medicine utilizing a stone tool with a smooth edge that increases circulation. GUA means to scrape or rub and SHA refers to the blood stagnation in the tissues (that presents as a reddish discoloration, or petechiae, following treatment). Raising SHA removes blood stagnation, considered pathogenic in Chinese medicine. Current research shows the petechiae reaction triggers an anti-inflammatory immune response in the body that continues for days, relieving muscle stiffness, pain, cough, vomiting, and other acute or chronic symptoms.

HOLISTIC WELLNESS —Herbal Medicine & Nutrition

The power of traditional Chinese and Japanese herbal medicine goes back millennia and have benefitted countless people. Botanical herbs provide sources for many modern pharmaceuticals, such as schizandra for hepatitis or anti-cancer agents from too many herbal combinations to name. Plant medicines complement acupuncture by tonifying qi, nourishing depleted blood, regenerating tissues, energizing blood and lymph flow. Some herbs work by draining inflammation (or heat) and excess fluid, while others boost metabolism, strengthening your body. Available in tablet, capsule, powder, and extract, herbal formulas rarely cause unwanted side effects.

Plant remedies, healthy oils, natural prebiotics and postbiotics can be viewed as medicinal foods. Supplements like probiotics, omega fatty acids, and vitamin nutrients may be prescribed to support healing, nourish and tonify. Good nutrition complements acupuncture and is integral to your wellness plan. Andrew has studied the effects and energetics of food on the body for nearly two decades. He offers counseling and guidance for healthy eating to support your body’s unique nutritional needs. Nurture your body and you will bear the fruits of good health.
